Welcome to the 28th issue of my short & refreshing musings about life and the journey in between.

“…One day the leaves will go from autumn orange to spring green and the season of dryness will give way to rain and plenty. That day, those things that were never enough will become abundant. The dry times will teach you resilience, and faith and make you thirst, eager for an outpouring of cool water.
One day you will hear the clap of thunder in the sky; to some, it will be noise, but to you, it will be music to your ears…because it’s the beginning of a new season.
I hope that day is today.”
There’s something about seasons and times. In fact, as I write this, I’m reminded of a verse of scripture I grew up learning: "A Time for Everything." It speaks of a time to love and hate, for war and peace, to hold and let go, to scatter and build, to be born and die… and so on. It is one of the timeless pearls of wisdom that I am convinced will never change.
But how often do we ponder this wisdom?
How often do you relish the thought that you're exactly where you're meant to be?
Does it cross your mind, when you either miss an opportunity or catch a lucky break, that this is destiny?
It’s easy to trust in the ‘a time for everything’ sentiment when everything is going right. But when adversity strikes, is our faith as strong?
If we're honest, often the answer is no, especially when our plans go awry.
As a woman who has experienced profound pain, lost her way and missed more opportunities than she’d like to admit, I grappled with these beliefs for a long time. I knew the life I was living back then wasn't the life I dreamt of, leading me to question everything.
I questioned if this was where I needed to be at that time, whether my life would ever get any better, how and when I arrived at where I was and most importantly when my time would come…
After a few more waiting, hard knocks, and lessons here and there, here are some truths I have unearthed:
- That the ancient piece of wisdom about ‘time and season’ hardly makes sense when we are going through the dark days, and quite frankly I don’t think it is supposed to. The only time the picture is clearest is when we are connecting the dots backwards.
-That the journey towards our goal is more important than the destination. We are shaped and prepared during the journey to become a person deserving of the end result. You can imagine that a path without obstacles, though enticing, hardly prepares us for what lies ahead.
-That while life has its predetermined seasons, our actions can inadvertently hasten the tough times or shorten the pleasant ones. Hence, being self-aware and taking responsibility for our choices is crucial.
That each one of us dances to a unique rhythm of life.
We may not all face storms or sunshine at the same time, but each experience is tailored to our individual journey. It's a poignant reminder to stay true to your own course so you don’t miss the timing of your life.
I love the way it was beautifully captured in the soundtrack of the movie, Lion King.
It's the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
'Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The Circle of Life
-I have learned that every season comes with its lessons. Very often we are quick to catch on and learn from the negative experiences we encounter, but how about the good ones? How often do we pay attention to the blessing we are gifted daily, realizing that we are just beneficiaries of grace…
Above all, I have realized that life with its intricate pattern, might not always make sense. And that's okay. We must find solace in the belief that a grand tapestry is being woven.
I don’t have answers to all the questions yet, but I am at peace knowing that there’s a bigger plan for my life and what matters is that I am at the centre of it.
Eventually, the tides will turn, and your leaves will turn green and bloom as an abundance of rain waters your garden.
There’s something about seasons and times. I believe this…I waited patiently, and my time came…
Yours will too!
